Ferrari World Yas Island Debuts World’s Lightest Trophy

Introducing the world’s lightest trophy of its size for Ferrari World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. (FWAD)
Our bespoke trophy requests tend to be the weightier the better. As visually impressive as this trophy is in size, most trophies this size weigh 5-10 kilos however this weighs only an incredible 760grams!! An innovative and progressive way of creating this lightweight trophy meant the finished design was impressive and also functional, ticking all of the boxes for the client.
After a thrilling season with the world’s best esports competitors, the Ferrari HP Esports Series made its last stop at Ferrari World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, inside the all-new Ferrari World Esports Arena where Luke Whitehead, a 21-year-old promising talent from the United Kingdom, displayed consistency across all three races to secure his spot at the top of the podium. The series continues to offer even more players of all ages the opportunity to experience the thrill of virtual motorsport.
The judging was held under the watchful eyes of Tiziana Mecozzi, Scuderia Ferrari HP Esports Team Manager, Fabio Gama, Scuderia Ferrari HP Esports Ambassador and Isaac Gillissen, Ferrari Esports Series Champion 2023.
The newly opened Esports Arena in FWAD, launched to the public in October 2024. This cutting-edge racing hub features 20 high-performance Gran Turismo simulators and also boasts 3 F1 motion base simulators, where guests can experience the thrill of racing a Ferrari with steering controls modelled after real F1 steering wheels. This provided the perfect venue for the highly anticipated finale.
The Three P’s
For a company that is constantly driving innovation within FWAD, we rose to the occasion to create such an innovative trophy. It embodies Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, with a theme of three, not only representing the three regions taking part but also Ferrari Esports Series’ three core values – progressive, passionate, persistence”.
The triangular cut outs are a reference to the iconic logo which is repeated throughout the design. The fixings are exposed to tie into the engineering theme and the bold red colour in an anodised finish and laser engraving is the final visually impressive touch.
Will, our designer, went through a few prototypes with the aluminium to figure out a way to remove as much weight as possible, while maintaining the aesthetics of the trophy. Aluminium is the ideal material for this as it has a great balance between being lightweight but also strong.
Congratulations to the winner Luke Whitehead, after a fast paced and exciting season!
