Golden Croissants for Isigny Sainte Mère Best Croissant

In September for the second year running, the Best Croissant in the UK competition took place at The Savoy Hotel in front of an audience of over 100 guests. This year, 60 bakeries across the UK competed, with more than 12,000 public votes cast to select the 20 finalists. Who was in line for the famous golden croissant? 

The well-known dairy brand Isigny Sainte Mère created this event to celebrate the most delicious croissant judged by an esteemed panel of judges, led by the Head Baker and Meilleur at Ouvrier de France, Cyrille Van Der Stuyft. They meticulously evaluated each croissant on its shape, volume, colour, layering, texture and, most importantly, its taste because a lot goes into the perfect croissant!

Chestnut Bakery was officially crowned the winner of the Best Croissant in the UK, winning the competition for the second consecutive year. They will now receive national recognition for their exceptional skills in creating the best croissant of 2024. An organiser from the event said “The event went very well, it was great to see 20 bakeries from all over the UK competing in such a prestigious location and to have such an exceptional panel of judges.”

Gold Enough to Eat!

EFX created an award for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place croissant. The first place award was of course the coveted golden croissant on a polished wooden plinth with engraved plaque. For 2nd and 3rd place we created two engraved wooden awards. “We got many compliments on the trophies and the top 3 winners now proudly display them in their shop” For future editions of the competition, their vision was to keep the same trophy models and simply change the date each year. That’s how much they love the design!
