Legends Crowned at The NW200 Races

Every year in May, and for almost 100 years (!!), Ireland’s largest outdoor sporting event takes place. The Briggs Equipment North West 200 takes place on closed roads between Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine on the circuit of the North Coast of Northern Ireland. This mammoth event sees 9 races and 2 practice sessions take place on closed public roads. With “the epic mass starts there is truly nothing like it” – said a spokesperson for the event. Slip stream motorcycle racing is incredibly unique. The high speed, the colours and the intensity of these races on the roads locals drive on day to day is a sight to see!

The name North West 200 comes originally from the first organisers in 1930, where it would take place over a distance of 200 miles, on publics roads in the North West of Ireland. The growth of the race and its exposure has surpassed anything they had expected in the 1930s and as of 2007 around two million people logged on globally to watch these high intensity races!

Race fans who managed to attend in person did not go home disappointed after this year’s event, with record-breaking action and incredible winners, Glenn Irwin won his 11th consecutive Superbike race to become the event’s most successful premier class competitor.

Awards on Track

The chosen EFX design features a road inspired Black Anodised Aluminium award with pierced detailing for the road markings and ‘NW’ initials and red digitally printed detailing to really stand out.
